Milk kefir grains allow you to easily make your own healthy cultured fermented probiotic milk kefir at home for a fraction of the cost of the store bought drink.
Milk kefir has a thinner consistency than yoghurt and contains beneficial bacteria that can help with gut issues, improve digestion & strengthen your immune system.
We will have a small supply of milk kefir grains every week as we are growing them from our own supply. If our website is showing out of stock, please check again in a day or two as we only list them whe we have them physically available.
Activating your grains:
The grains are supplied in a zip lock bag without any milk so when you recieve them they need to be revived and settle i their new environment using the following instructions. It can take up to 2 weeks to get your grains fully activated. As soon as you receive your milk kefir grains in the post, remove the grains from the zip lock bag and place them into a clean glass jar. Add 250ml of fresh full fat mik and place a kitchen towel on top of the jar and secure it in place with an elastic band. Leave the jar on a counter top at room temperature until you notice the milk separating (this usually takes 24 to 48 hours). When you see separation occurring, strain the grains through a plastic sieve and discard the milk. Wash your glass jar out and place the grains back into it along with 250ml of fresh full fat milk. Cover your jar and leave it in room temperature for approximately 24 hours. Repeat this process until you are happy with the consistency of the milk kefir.
